THE POWER OF UNITY

Hey guys, this is Prof. Gleidson Poney. Thanks for stopping by our weekly blog post. This week we have a super cool story that relates with all areas of our lives.

Before we go any further, let me ask you something:

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN: UNION x UNITY?

The two look very similar for a lot of people, but let me clarify the difference a bit better. Picture this with me now: you have a bag full of oranges in your hands, my question is: Are those oranges united, or do they have union?

We have 2 components to this: the bag and the oranges. Let’s take this a little bit more personally right now. Think about your current spouse, partner, boyfriend or girlfriend. Think about the person you share life with. Do you think you’re united with them, or do you just have a union?

Let’s get back to the bag full of oranges, imagine holding that bag up in the air right now. You're going to agree with me that all those oranges will be in the bag, right?! Now get a knife and cut the bottom of the bag. What do you think is going to happen? YOU GOT IT!!!

All the oranges will fall to the ground and go in different directions. Do you think this situation resembles us in a lot of areas of our lives? The knife that cuts through the bottom of the bag is a symbol of all the PROBLEMS that we sometimes need to face in life. Considering this in terms of our marriage, the word “marriage” means we’re together because we have union, but just like in the first scenario, we go in different directions when problems arise. When I understood that I can have union in certain areas of my life, this made more sense for me. In specific areas of our lives, especially in marriage, we need to become one flesh. That means that those oranges need to get out of the bag and go inside the mixer and become a delicious juice. That is how we create unity.

We can compare this to other areas of our life, I also know this as “mastermind. The first time I saw this term was in one of Napoleon Hill’s books. This is when 2 or more people come together in unity to accomplish one goal, it’s when they have one purpose.

They have become one and this is very powerful.

Take a look on this passage in Genesis 11:1-9

“Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. As people moved eastward, they found a plain in Shinar and settled there.
They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.”
But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”
So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. That is why it was called Babel—because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth.”

Do you understand what I put in bold for us? Nothing will be impossible for us if we become one person. NOTHING, we can literally achieve anything. The main problem with that passage was because those guys wanted to do all of that to glorify themselves and not GOD.

He is the alpha and omega, begins in Him and ends in Him as well. The main point I want to bring up is:

If your relationship with your partner right now isn’t going well, it may be because you’re not going in the same direction.

If your relationship in your work space isn’t going well, it may be because you’re not going in the same direction as the company.

If your relationship with your business partner right now isn’t going well, it may be because you’re both going in opposite directions.

Because if you work together as ONE PERSON, nothing will be impossible.

Task of the day: look at areas of your life and your relationships right now with extreme self accountability. Do not blame anyone else, and only question yourself.
