FEARLESS BLACKBELT IN LIFE
FEARLESS BLACKBELT
We need to understand that as human beings, we are triune creatures: Spiritual, Emotional, and Physical (Spirit, Soul, Body). They are all related to each other, we can’t separate one from another. This is us. This week our discussion will be about FEAR. In the last blog post, we talked about how we can set plans to take our life to the next level, and how a lot of sacrifices need to be made to achieve our goals. The funny thing is that even when we know what to do, and what it takes to do it, for some reason we don’t always do it. Most of the time we are afraid to take the next step in our journey.
I meditate a little more about common fears we have as humans, and my question is: Why do we have FEAR? As human beings, we want to be alive, but fear holds us back from doing something different to keep us in a safe place. This can be good sometimes because it makes you cautious, but when the fear holds us back from doing what we have to do this is a whole different level of fear. We need to FIGHT THE REAL FIGHT to change this mindset. We will need to establish new positive memories related to the fear we have, and by doing this we can reset ourselves to keep moving forward. Our fears are based on our belief system, knowledge, and experiences during our life. The majority of these things are developed in our childhood and they will directly interfere with the way we look at the world. That is the reason why I always invite my students to FIGHT THE REAL FIGHT. We have to confront those things ALL THE TIME to keep moving forward to the life God created for us to live.
Let me tell you a couple of basic fears in our humanity: Fear of poverty, old age, criticism, losing a loved one, illness, and death. Those are a few fears that are very common in our world today. The fear of DEATH is the root of any other type of fear we can have.
Before I keep going, you need to understand that to become a FEARLESS BLACKBELT does not mean you won’t have any fear. Being a FEARLESS BLACKBELT means that even when experiencing FEAR, you will keep moving on. We will always have some sort of fear. With that being said, I will tell you now what I say to my athletes all the time, and also what I told myself my entire career before getting inside the octagon.
Learn how to ask yourself QUESTIONS?
“Are you afraid? Yes!
Do you fear that opponent? Yes!
Do you know it won’t fix the problem, right? Yes!
What are you gonna do now? Fight!
That’s awesome, GO WITH FEAR. BUT GO! It’s time to Go, let’s do it!”
JUST DO IT…
We have the cure for fear! I’ve learned and I’ll tell you what it is, bear with me!
As I was looking into the subject of fear a little bit more, I saw an article about those basic common fears. It was shared by an author that I like a lot: Napoleon Hill. Book: The Law of Success
Fear of Poverty -> According to Napoleon Hill, the fear of poverty stems from the tendency that humans have to dominate other human beings. In the animal world domination normally happens physically, but with men, it happens through money. The author stresses that money is so valued in our society because of the idea that there is nothing more tormenting than poverty. The origin of this first fear is based on the lack of trust we have for others, caused by experiences connected to the loss of money and belongings. This makes us afraid of losing everything and of being left behind, and this makes us want to accumulate more things. This just makes us more selfish and leads people to violate others just to protect their assets. Hill points out that this would no longer happen if humans trusted each other more and we didn't feel the need to accumulate much more than we need.
Fear of Old Age -> This is another fear that comes from two sources: the concept that aging will be accompanied by poverty and the concept that aging brings you closer to the end of your life. Hill says that people’s tendency to associate old age and poverty is because of the fear of losing belongings to others (the family, for example) when they get older because they have so much distrust. The second source is related to the ideas that we have been learning since childhood and the fear of what can happen after death. Many people are afraid that purgatory or hell exist, and that aging will bring them closer to these environments that are so much worse than the one they are in presently.
Fear of Criticism -> Hill reveals that the fear of criticism is the most difficult to comprehend because every person has different opinions. While some relate this fear to politics, others relate it to the Holy Bible and its criticisms. For the author, the source of this fear is related to the fact that humans have the desire to be either on the same level or above others in some way, and because of this, they fear criticism. This fear ends up being established in a manner that is usually insignificant. An example given by Hill shows how afraid people are of being criticized for their clothes and for not wearing socially acceptable things. They acquire more clothes and do everything they can to participate in new trends in an attempt to prevent themselves from not being socially accepted.
Fear of Lost a Loved One -> According to Hill, the fear of losing someone's love was created by the tendency that many men used to have of stealing their neighbor's wife or committing adultery. From this tendency, jealousy and trust issues arose, leading many people to worry about losing their partners. The author believes that this is one of humanity's worst basic fears and that it can drive people to permanent madness.
Fear of Illness -> To explain the fear of illness, we have to come back to the fears of poverty and old age. This fear is based on the awful feelings that come with old age and that cause us to be dreadful of the future and the unknown. The author stresses that this fear also has to do with the constant sale of products intended for the protection of health, because of this people are constantly reminded that diseases exist and can reach them.
Fear of Death -> Finally, we come to what is considered the worst fear of all: death. According to the author, the main source of the fear of death is religious beliefs, which make us afraid of the future and the existence of other worlds like hell or purgatory. Because we do not know for certain where we came from and where we are going when we leave this life, religions open doors for us to find answers, regardless of whether these answers are true or not, to our doubts. We are directed to believe in what is passed on to us from childhood and that continues in our society because of social heredity. Despite humanity's other basic fears, the fear of death is what throws us the most into the dark and makes us continuously question where we are going and what will be waiting for us when we get there. Even though the fear of death is the most intense of all, each of the other five fears impacts our lives according to our experiences. Reflect on which of them are more present for you, seek their origins in your experiences, and try to understand how we can ease them so that they do not become an endless source of negative thoughts or bad decisions.
After looking at all of that, DANGGGG … How can we move forward with all those fears? I said before that the fear of DEATH is the root of all the others. Hill says that our religious beliefs are what create these fears because we don’t know where we came from and where we are going.
That's the part of his message that I disagree with. My belief is in JESUS CHRIST. God already told me WHO I AM AND WHAT MY CALLING IS IN THIS LIFE - Read Genesis 1:26, the answer is there.
What I believe is that if I die for myself and choose Jesus, then I can live forever. Jesus provided me the WAY, he already told me the TRUTH, which is Him, and he also gave me a LIFE, and it wasn't a simple life. He promised you and me a life in abundance, a plentiful life. He is the alpha and omega, the beginning and end. But it’s entirely up to you to believe in this or not. Previously I said that I’ll reveal how we can overcome the fears that hold us back to keep going toward our goals, so here we go!
Get a piece of paper and let’s do it.
Split up the paper in the middle
On the left side, write down all of your fears.
On the right side, write down what you can do about it.
After that, meditate on it
Cure yourself from it! JUST DO IT
Example…
To become a FEARLESS BLACKBELT in life you need to DO IT. You NEED TO ACT, and you need to do it even when you have fear. Doing what you want and achieving what you want to achieve will be impossible if you never try. After the first attempt, it can still be difficult, but after a couple more times, it will be very approachable. That does not mean you don’t have fear anymore, but even with fear, you keep on going and moving forward.
YOU GOT IT, MY FRIEND! LET’S FIGHT, THE CURE FOR FEAR IS ACTION!
It is my time to go. I love your life and I believe in you! JUST DO IT!
1 Chronicles 20:28: “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the Lord is finished.
God is with you, he will strengthen you, but He won’t do it for you, but He wants to achieve it WITH you. Osss…
Thanks for your time here with me, hope this message finds your heart.
